Dr. Asil Abu Al-Rub – From Al-Quds University to Medical Practice and Research in Norway
Dr. Asil Salah Hasan Abu Al-Rub represents an inspiring example of a young Palestinian physician who has successfully combined academic excellence with international clinical and research experience.
She began her journey at the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Quds University in 2017, completing her studies in 2023 after six years of intensive learning, research, and volunteer work. During her medical education, Dr. Asil participated in notable research projects, including a national study on awareness of polycystic ovarian syndrome among Palestinian women, which was published in Annals of Medicine & Surgery.
Throughout her clinical training, Dr. Asil undertook several prestigious international rotations. Notably, she completed a clinical rotation in the Neurology Department at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway, under the supervision of Prof. Petter Sanaker, gaining advanced practical skills and exposure to a different healthcare system. She also completed rotations in General Surgery and Neurology at Jenin Governmental Hospital, where she honed her clinical skills and patient care expertise.
Beyond her clinical achievements, Dr. Asil has been deeply involved in student leadership and medical education initiatives. She served as the National Delegate for the International Association of Medical Student Societies (IASSS) and was a member of the management committee of the OMEN Surgery student group. Today, Dr. Asil Abu Al-Rub continues her medical career in Norway, serving as a resident physician (Lege) in the Neurology Department at Haukeland University Hospital.
